Working out at home is as easy as... 1 2 3!

Hey Everyone!!!

A lot of people come to me for tips on working out when you have kids or arent able to afford a gym membership. It doesnt take much to work out at home. If you purchase a few things (3 to be exact) it will be enough to do a full body workout in the comfort of your home.

1. A stability ball: these can be used for a number of different exercises from abs, fly's, core work, and so much more. These are very inexpensive and you can usually find them for about 20 dollars or less. Most of them will come with a C.D. showing you some different exercises you can do.

2. Dumbells: I would recommend getting 3 sets, a 5 lb set, a 10lb set, and either a 12lb or 15 lb set. These can be a bit more costly than the other items but if you are in an area where they have a Play It Again Sports, then you can get used ones from there.

3. Jump rope: A jump rope is an amazing tool for at home cardio. If you do intervals of 1 minute of jumping non-stop you will definitely feel the burn. You can do these intervals combined with other cardio drills that you dont need any equipment for.

With these tools and the desire and discipline to get in shape, I know you can have an amazing workout at home!!

Black and White with a pop of.... PINK!!

Hey Everyone!!

Today I had a meeting at this awesome place called the Oxford Exchange in Tampa, Fl. As soon as you walk in, you feel like you are instantly being transported to a different city. The decor has an eclectic, vintage feel that I couldn't help but admire! They had a bookstore, tea bar, coffee bar, and an restaurant with both inside and outside sitting. Here are some pics from the Oxford Exchange:

Today I decided to rock an outfit that mixed some business with pleasure. I love black and white, so I wore a black and white sweater with patterned hot pink capri's, so much fun! If you look good, you feel good, and I felt great :)!

Shopping Doesn't Have to Break the Bank

Ralph Lauren

 Hey Everyone!
Last week I was out with my family and we decided to stop at T.J. Maxx. I personally love stores like T.J. Maxx and Marshalls, because you can get a lot of designer items at affordable prices.

Here are a few of the items I purchased:

Since its still pretty warm here this shirt caught my eye. Its a nice mustard color for fall with a pop of color with the blue polka-dots. I also love the gold detailing with the buttons.

This piece has lace, gold and black buttons, and sequins all in one shirt. My kind of shirt!

Another nice sheer shirt with a great orange color, blue trimming, and the cut out in the back is a nice detail as well.
A simple off white lace skirt. This skirt is a nice length for me because I am pretty tall, so when I saw it, I had to buy it. I know its fall/winter but in Florida we pretty much can wear skirts year around :).
Menswear is definitely in right now and I loved these tasseled Dolce Vita loafers. They were such a great price that I had to get both!!

And lastly, I got a few accessories. I purchased two chain handbags and one taupe scarf.

I got all these things for around 150 dollars. Its a rare moment to be able to get this many quality items at such a good price. So if your looking for quality items that are still affordable, T.J. Maxx is a good place to start :)!

TAKING IT TO THE TRACK!!

Hey Everyone!!
I'm back with a track workout for you all. I ABSolutely love doing track workouts. They are great for a number of reasons! I love them because sprinting does amazing things for your abs and because workouts done on the track are usually high intensity and are great for fat loss.

I filmed most of the workout but it was really windy so some of the speaking portions are hard to hear so I will also write out the workout so you know what Im saying in the video :)!

Track workout:

*Warm up: jog an 800 (2 laps around the track), very easy pace just getting your blood flowing.
*1 round:
-Run one 400 (one lap around)
-Do one set of bleachers --> going all the way down and up each row until you     reach the end and jog back to where you started
-Do this 3 more times for a total of 4 rounds
*After all 4 rounds are completed go back down to the track and do four 100m sprints (the straight portion of the track). After each sprint you do an active rest by walking back to where you started and as soon as you get back, you sprint again.

Once you finish all four sprints, your done!!!

Thanks for watching and have a great workout!!!

My Skincare Routine

      Hey Everyone!!!

I know its been awhile since my last post and I'm sorry for the delay.  I wanted to answer a question I get quite frequently, my skin care routine. I workout a lot sometimes 3x a day, and I am very particular with how I take care of my skin so that I dont break-out from all the sweat. I have to warn you, I do use a few different products but that's because I am showering and washing my face at least 3x a day and at different points in the day my face needs different things.

When I wake up in the morning before my first workout, I like to use a very light cleanser and moisturizer. I use the Mary Kay Velocity Set. It is extremely light and my face absorbs it very quickly. Even when I am sweating like a pig during my am cardio, I dont feel it running off my face or anything. I have been using this since I was a teenager and even though I have added to my skincare routine, I feel like if it aint broke dont fix it ;).

After I work out, whether I am doing cardio or lifting weights, I immediately cleanse my face with a face wipe. An esthetician told me to avoid having my pores clogged with sweat, I should wipe my face immediately with a wipe and this will eliminate any break-outs. I feel like it really helps and since Ive been doing it, my face has been pretty clear. The ones I have been using lately are the Burt's Bees brand and I have been enjoying them. My face actually feels clean after I use them.
At night and after my last workout I use my favorite cleanser and my favorite moisturizer by Chanel. I dont use it in the am, because the moisturizer is pretty thick. I tend to have dry skin because of how much I wash my face and since I have been using it, I have seen a huge improvement and my skin hasnt been dry at all. I absolutely love this set and even though it is a bit pricey, it lasts quite a while and it is definitely worth it!! At night, when I am in the shower (the last time I wash my face), I also use my Clarisonic along with this set. The Clarisonic gets a deeper clean than I can with a rag or my hands. I usually wash my face twice, once without the Clarisonic and the second time with it. Its crazy that there is still dirt and sweat on my face after the first time I wash it.

I also have a few products that I use once a week. Once a week I use the Mary Kay microdermabrasion kit. It has exfoliating beads in it and it feels like it takes off a layer of old skin and leaves me feeling refreshed. I also try to do a mask once a week. My favorite mask right now is Sudden Change Green Tea Mask. As soon as you put it on you feel a cooling sensation and after you take it off your skin feels very moisturized.
I hope you all found this blog informative and if you have any questions please let me know!

Cardio Circuit

Hey Everyone, I know a lot of people are looking for new workouts to try and here is one. If you dont have access to a gym, arent able to make it because of having kids, or just want a change from your everyday workouts, then this is a great circuit for you. I did this circuit outside in the driveway while my son rode his bike and the only equipment I had was my phone for a timer and a jump rope.

The workout consists of 5 different exercises that consist of one round of the circuit. I did 5 rounds and was drenched.

-First exercise: 2 100 yd sprints
I just used my ipod running app to measure out 100 yd but if you dont have one then it should take you about 20 sec if your are doing a full out sprint to do each sone. After the sprints take a 20 second rest -->

-Second exercise: 1 min of switch lunges
You get in a lunge stance, jump, and then switch legs. Do this as quickly possible. When in the lunge stance make sure your knees arent going over toes. Rest 20 sec after the switch lunges -->

-Third exercise: Jump rope for 1 min
Pretty self explanatory, but jump rope as quick as possible for a min. Rest for 20 sec -->
-Fourth Exercise: High knees for one min
Stand straight up and drive your knees up as high and quick as possible. Rest for 20 sec -->

-Fourth Exercise: Jumping Jacks for 1 min
I am pretty sure you all have done jumping jacks before, but do them as quick as possible.

After you finish all the exercises, take a min rest, and start the circuit over. I did it 5x but do it as many times as you can. To make this circuit effective, do the exercises as quick as you possibly can and try to go for the whole minute.

Have fun and get your sweat on.

WORKOUT WEDNESDAY!!!

Hey Everyone!! I am so sorry its been a while since my last blog. As some of you may know I am in competition prep so my schedule has gotten even more hectic than usual. I originally filmed a video answering the most common workout questions I have been getting lately but the video came out really long and the editing was taken forever so i decided I will answer two workout questions on my blog each Wednesday.

Will lifting weights make me get bulky?

I get this question most often from women. The answer is NO. Do not be scared to lift weights. When done the right way, lifting weights will speed up your fat loss and give you nice lean and toned muscles. You burn a lot of calories when lifting so when incorporated into your workout plan you will see amazing results. If you are still concerned about getting bulky and want to try weights for the first time, I would recommend doing light weight, high rep workouts. This workout is like doing cardio with weights and will help burn fat while building muscle. An example of a light weight, high rep set would be:
standing bicep curls 4 sets of 20 with a 10-15lb weight supersetted with incline dumbbell curls 4 sets of 20 with a 10-15lb weight

Whats the secret to getting to in shape and getting flat abs?

I know this may sound cliche but there is really no secret. I wish I could tell you there was some magic pill that I could tell you to take because believe me I would take it too :). It is really a balance of weight training, cardio, and clean eating. Your diet is really the main component to getting in shape and getting a flat stomach. I would say your diet is 80% and exercise makes up about 20%. I eat balanced meals with lean protein, complex carbs, and veggies. I don't do any crazy diets or crazy fads, its all about consistency. Some quick tips on how to change to your diet would be: cutting out white carbs (white potato, white rice, white pasta, white bread, etc...), cutting out fast food, decreasing your sodium and sugar, eliminating soda, and increasing your water. Most people dont drink enough water and that will cause you to hold water which will make you look bloated. I drink about a gallon of water every day. To sum it up change your diet, get in the gym, and stay consistent!!

Terminology:
superset: is a combination of one exercise performed right after the other with no rest in between them. There are two ways to implement a superset.
standing bicep curls: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=av7-8igSXTs
incline dumbbell curls: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GeyjGyrOPp4

I hope these answers helped you guys out! If you have any questions you would like me to answer, send them to getfabnfit@gmail.com!

Move over nudes... Time for COLOR!!

Last week, we were in Atlanta for the first stop of the Mrs. Right seminar. Btw if you haven't gotten the book yet, pls pls check it out. Its a lot of great information, that if used properly can change your life! Well anyways, while in Atlanta I met up with one of my best friends. She is a model/actress in Atl and dresses very nice but very conservative. She dresses as if she is on a go-see all the time. This weekend we went into quite a few stores and I gave her some tips on incorporating color into her daily look and wardrobe.

If you're not quite ready for color-blocking there are small things that you can add to your wardrobe that can give you a pop of color without being too much. This is the perfect season for color and single ladies when you are able to rock a bright color it shows confidence and you will definitely stand out!

The first way to add some color is with your nail polish. It is a very inexpensive way to add a nice pop. There are some really amazing colors out for spring and summer. And guess what if you don't like the color, there is always nail polish remover :)! Here are a couple of my favorites:

(Left to Right: London Butter scoundrel, Essie: peach daiquiri, navigate her, turquoise and caicos, and orange its obvious, London butter trout pout)
Another of my favorite ways to add color is with a blazer. It can take a white t-shirt and jeans and make it look like a well put-together outfit. I would recommend getting an inexpensive version since its a trendy piece and you are experimenting with color right now. Here are two that I own.

(Top: Zara $79.99, Bottom: Forever 21: $27.80, necklace is from HRH collection)
Shoes and accessories are some of my favorite ways to add color! You can rock a super casual outfit and make it really fun by adding a colorful shoe, clutch, or spring time scarf. Sometimes I'll wear a white shirt w some boyfriend jeans and  throw a bright scarf with it. Its effortless but looks like you put a lot of thought into it :)!

(Left to Right: Jessica Simpson, Aldo, and Madden girl wedges- think they were from TJ Maxx)

(Clutch and scarf both from Target)
For those of you that are bit bolder, try some colorful jeans. They come in tons of colors ( from pastels to bright oranges) and you can get them in any price range. They are definite a statement piece but are such a hot trend for this season and I am obsessed! You can make this your main pop of color and add neutrals and nudes with it.

(Blue: H&M, Coral - I know they look red in the pic: Express)

And if you are really bold, you can put a few colorful pieces together! This is also a really hot trend and is called color blocking. Here is an outfit I wore this past weekend for the Mrs. Right Seminar.

If you guys want me to style any of the pieces I showed, let me know and I will. Thanks for stopping by and don't be afraid to add some color in your life!! :)
