WORKOUT WEDNESDAY!!!
Hey Everyone!! I am so sorry its been a while since my last blog. As some of you may know I am in competition prep so my schedule has gotten even more hectic than usual. I originally filmed a video answering the most common workout questions I have been getting lately but the video came out really long and the editing was taken forever so i decided I will answer two workout questions on my blog each Wednesday.
Will lifting weights make me get bulky?
I get this question most often from women. The answer is NO. Do not be scared to lift weights. When done the right way, lifting weights will speed up your fat loss and give you nice lean and toned muscles. You burn a lot of calories when lifting so when incorporated into your workout plan you will see amazing results. If you are still concerned about getting bulky and want to try weights for the first time, I would recommend doing light weight, high rep workouts. This workout is like doing cardio with weights and will help burn fat while building muscle. An example of a light weight, high rep set would be:
standing bicep curls 4 sets of 20 with a 10-15lb weight supersetted with incline dumbbell curls 4 sets of 20 with a 10-15lb weight
Whats the secret to getting to in shape and getting flat abs?
I know this may sound cliche but there is really no secret. I wish I could tell you there was some magic pill that I could tell you to take because believe me I would take it too :). It is really a balance of weight training, cardio, and clean eating. Your diet is really the main component to getting in shape and getting a flat stomach. I would say your diet is 80% and exercise makes up about 20%. I eat balanced meals with lean protein, complex carbs, and veggies. I don't do any crazy diets or crazy fads, its all about consistency. Some quick tips on how to change to your diet would be: cutting out white carbs (white potato, white rice, white pasta, white bread, etc...), cutting out fast food, decreasing your sodium and sugar, eliminating soda, and increasing your water. Most people dont drink enough water and that will cause you to hold water which will make you look bloated. I drink about a gallon of water every day. To sum it up change your diet, get in the gym, and stay consistent!!
Terminology:
superset: is a combination of one exercise performed right after
the other with no rest in between them. There are two ways to
implement a superset.

Move over nudes... Time for COLOR!!
Last week, we were in Atlanta for the first stop of the Mrs. Right seminar. Btw if you haven't gotten the book yet, pls pls check it out. Its a lot of great information, that if used properly can change your life! Well anyways, while in Atlanta I met up with one of my best friends. She is a model/actress in Atl and dresses very nice but very conservative. She dresses as if she is on a go-see all the time. This weekend we went into quite a few stores and I gave her some tips on incorporating color into her daily look and wardrobe.
If you're not quite ready for color-blocking there are small things that you can add to your wardrobe that can give you a pop of color without being too much. This is the perfect season for color and single ladies when you are able to rock a bright color it shows confidence and you will definitely stand out!
The first way to add some color is with your nail polish. It is a very inexpensive way to add a nice pop. There are some really amazing colors out for spring and summer. And guess what if you don't like the color, there is always nail polish remover :)! Here are a couple of my favorites:
| (Left to Right: London Butter scoundrel, Essie: peach daiquiri, navigate her, turquoise and caicos, and orange its obvious, London butter trout pout) |
Another of my favorite ways to add color is with a blazer. It can take a white t-shirt and jeans and make it look like a well put-together outfit. I would recommend getting an inexpensive version since its a trendy piece and you are experimenting with color right now. Here are two that I own.

Shoes and accessories are some of my favorite ways to add color! You can rock a super casual outfit and make it really fun by adding a colorful shoe, clutch, or spring time scarf. Sometimes I'll wear a white shirt w some boyfriend jeans and throw a bright scarf with it. Its effortless but looks like you put a lot of thought into it :)!
| (Left to Right: Jessica Simpson, Aldo, and Madden girl wedges- think they were from TJ Maxx) |

For those of you that are bit bolder, try some colorful jeans. They come in tons of colors ( from pastels to bright oranges) and you can get them in any price range. They are definite a statement piece but are such a hot trend for this season and I am obsessed! You can make this your main pop of color and add neutrals and nudes with it.

And if you are really bold, you can put a few colorful pieces together! This is also a really hot trend and is called color blocking. Here is an outfit I wore this past weekend for the Mrs. Right Seminar.
If you guys want me to style any of the pieces I showed, let me know and I will. Thanks for stopping by and don't be afraid to add some color in your life!! :)
